2022 Hostas J, K, L, M

June, because you have to have one.  Planted last year, it has had a decent second summer.  This is a chameleon plant, with its coloring being totally dependent on how much sun it gets.  Here in the backyard, and under the Locust, it is quite protected, hence the blue-y green.  June came from DeGroot's, here in Sarnia.

A really nice lance leafed small with cool coloring.  Unfortunately, it is currently a little sun bleached.  Should bounce back next year.  Kabitan was purchased on Facebook Marketplace in Strathroy, ON.

Lakeside Cupcake; purchased just this week at Eckert's in Warren, MI.  Nice coloring.

Notice the hen manure around the base.  This is becoming our new routine for all new transplants...otherwise the squirrel banditos dig up every new plant.  They must have radar for freshly turned soil.

This is Lakeside Dragonfly.  I am rooting for this guy.  I think it is going to mature into a really nice plant, but I just get worried how flattened it gets every time I water it.  Hoping he gets a little more spine next year.  Lakeside Dragonfly was purchased at Canadale Nursery in St. Thomas, ON.

Already a stunner, Lakeside Paisley Print is really going to mature nicely.  I love the flame variegation and the pie crust edge of the leaves.  Purchased this one also at Canadale Nursery.

This is Liberty.  Liberty is going through puberty, it appears.  I have seen glorious specimens of this variety online, but never in person.  Make me a believer Liberty!  Liberty is also from DeGroot's in Sarnia.

Little Wonder is from the garden of Bill Gibbons.  It is a nice tight little bunch of leaves with edge variegation.  Hoping it can survive under the maple trees of the front garden.

When I lived in Ingersoll, Luna Moth was in my top 3 plants I owned.  This one is a little different than what I remember, but when I saw it at Angela's (Facebook Marketplace), I had to snatch it up, since I never see it for sale in retail.  Luna Moth show grow into a nice medium sized plant.  As much as I am a sucker for white flame variegation, blue/green mix is right behind it for my favorite hosta coloring.

I have a monster in my yard, and its name is Montana Aureomarginata.  This is only the first year in the garden for this hefty fella and it should grow into a really nice vase shaped clump.  It will be big!  Great coloration between the edge and center, even after some sun bleaching.  Found this one for $9.99 (!!!) at Canadale Nurseries, in St. Thomas, ON.

Mighty Mouse is a great one from the Mouse series.  I lost Sun Mouse over the winter, but this one survived.  These are great little plants for filling in gaps between larger specimens.  This guy should grow into a very small clump with nice water color transitions.  Mighty Mouse was purchased at DeGroot's.

Very impressed with Minnesota Wild, so far.  It has been very vigorous for a first year planting, and has put on lots of new growth.  Unfortunately, it is tucked away in a corner of the 'deep dark forest' and doesn't always get as much attention, but he sure doesn't seem to mind.  Nice wavy edge starting to show and again with the nice water color transitions between the edge and center.  Got this one at Hosta Choice Gardens in Appin, ON.

Finishing up this category is Munchkin Fire.  I found this one at DeGroot's.  Now that I am looking at this picture blown up to size, I am a little worried about the discoloration on some of the leaves.  I recently had to dispose of an HVX infected Strip Tease, so maybe I am still a little wary after that experience; I will have to investigate further this evening.  Munchkin Fire should form a nice small limey green clump with tapered leaves.  Cute flowers on this one too, if you're into that kind of thing...I am not.  Although, I do plan on breeding some hostas next year, so I might become more of a hosta flower lover soon.
