2022 Hostas D, E, F
Continuing in the hosta alphabet...
Deep Blue Sea is a great old school hosta with deep blue colour and great corrugation on the leaves. May get a little big for where we have it, but that is a problem for tomorrow Jeremy ;) We received Deep Blue Sea from a Facebook friend, Angela, in Petrolia, ON.
Diamond Lake is a new one for us this year. It is supposed to be a powdery blue, but was situated in far too much sun and all the blue wax melted, leaving us with this poor tired soul. He has been moved to the 'deep dark forest' and should thrive next year in all its blue glory. This hosta was purchased at Bordine's in MI.
The notoriously slow Dream Weaver. Second year, not much to say about this one. Hopefully, it gets its legs under it next year and provides a better showing. Dream Weaver comes to us via Hosta Choice Gardens in Appin, ON.
Elvis Lives is a nice size division we received from Bill Gibbons' garden. Nice mounding habit and thin undulating leaves. The King would be proud.
Earth Angel is another classic, and another that languished a bit in the morning sun of the front yard side garden. The new leaves seem a little more hardy, so hoping for a good bounce back year in 2023. We got Earth Angel at Bordine's in MI.
Emerald Ruff Cut looks 'Ruff' indeed. It was a little tattered when I bought it at Sipken's in the summer, but again, hoping for a bounce back year next year. It certainly has potential - fingers crossed.

Maybe in my top 5 purchased this year is Foxfire Palm Sunday. This one came to us from Facebook Angela, in Petrolia, ON. Nice mature plant with an upright habit and slender leaves. The colour is stunning and looks great up against our red garden shed.
Frances Williams is a must have for any hosta collector. I bought it because I didn't have one, and I am hoping it develops into a nice mature mound on the other side of the yews. This one was purchased at a local plant/garage sale, here in Sarnia
Rounding out this section is the adorable Fruit Loop. This one has a nice thick white edge and seems to be growing quickly in the sun. It is placed in a semi-circle garden with some other smalls, so I think it will look great in a couple of years. Fruit Loop was purchased at Hosta Choice.
